Marty has over 25 years of experience
investigating liability on hundreds of FELA cases in
the western United States and Alaska involving fatalities,
amputations, excessive lifting, slack action, cumulative
trauma, hearing loss, and disability. On many cases
Marty was able to strengthen liability through an awareness
of the importance of the Safety Appliance Act, Locomotive
Inspection Act, and improper work procedures pursuant
to OSHA, FRA and various state safety regulations. He
has also investigated numerous motor vehicle accidents,
railroad crossing accidents, and a wide variety of personal
injury cases. Marty maintains strategic contacts among
the railroad labor unions and is always available to
provide assistance.
Marty’s career as an investigator
began in 1973 upon graduation from San Diego State University
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. His initial
experience and training was in criminal defense investigation
for the Public Defender in Multnomah County, Oregon
followed by five years with the Federal Public Defender
in Portland, Oregon.
Marty and his wife, Peggy, have been
married 30 years and have three grown children. He is
active in his church, and community service has included
coaching youth sports, serving on non-profit Board of
Directors, teaching English as a Second Language, and
assisting with local political campaigns. |
